Initial Firearms Initial firearms is a 2 day course which covers the Dept. of Consumer Affairs guide-lines for carrying and using a firearm. 1st day is classroom and the 2nd day is range. The use of the .38/.357 cal. handgun is included in the class, however, the 9mm, .40, and .45 cal. can also be provided at an additional charge so that the student may qualify with multiple weapons. Eye and ear protection are provided. Proof of citizenship is required. Additional fees required for ammunition. LIVESCAN FINGERPRINTING = $130.00 (this fee is usually paid during the Guard Card class.) STATE OF CALIFORNIA FEES Upon successful course completion the provided forms must be sent to the state of California with a fee of $80.00 to attain your permit. |
Powers to Arrest (GUARD CARD) GUARD CARD is a 1 day course which covers the administration of the 45 question exam and "Weapons of Mass Destruction". We will provide the BSIS guard card registration forms and the LIVESCAN FINGERPRINTING forms. This is an open-book test utilizing the "Powers to Arrest" training manual. Fees: Class = $80.00 LIVESCAN FINGERPRINTING = $90.00 or $130.00 if taking the Initial Firearms class.
STATE OF CALIFORNIA FEES Upon successful course completion the provided forms must be sent to the state of California with a fee of $50.00 to attain your permit.

| BATON The BATON course covers the Dept. of Consumer Affairs guide-lines for carrying and using the "Straight/Side-Handle & Expandable" Baton. A "Lifetime" certificate is issued by the state of California. Fees: Class = $150.00 which includes all baton licenses and state fees.

TEAR GAS and
PEPPER SPRAY The TEAR GAS and PEPPER SPRAY course involves watching a 30 minute video and taking a 30 question exam. TEAR GAS/PEPPER SPRAY permit is issued at the end of the class. Fees: Class = $30.00 |

FIREARMS REQUALIFICATION $40.00
Holders of a BSIS Firearms License must REQUALIFY 4 times in a 2 year period at least 4 months apart. There are additional costs for additional calibers.
All range fees and ammunition costs are the responsibility of the guard.
